Essay Topics on Alternative Medicine - Are They Useful Or a Waste of Time?When I first started out in medical school, I was overwhelmed by the number of essay topics on alternative medicine that my professors forced me to write. Not only did they want to know what I knew about medical science and history, but they wanted to know what I had researched and learned personally about alternative medicine. These were not questions I had ever considered as a student, and now as a physician, I could not understand why they were trying to instill such topics in my students.My problem was that although I knew quite a bit about alternative medicine, I had never really thought much about it myself. What they were asking for, I thought, were things I knew I would have an opinion about.After all, what were they expecting me to write? What did they expect me to put in my essay topics on alternative medicine that would convince my students to believe what I had to say?The problems that I had faced w ere similar to those of many medical students, but the difference was that I was in a different career path at the time. If I was planning to become a nurse or physician, I felt that I would not have to worry too much about what these students were asking for. But because I was in the health care industry, I was bound to learn something new, or at least hear about something that I knew nothing about.The fact that I was in the health care industry also made it even more important for me to learn as much as I could about alternative medicine, since the subject was such a large part of the industry. So I went into the health care arena with as much knowledge as I could possibly manage.Now, while I am not in the health care industry anymore, and I am no longer writing these essays, I still enjoy the privilege of writing about the subjects. It has allowed me to get an education about some of the more controversial topics of the health care industry, such as chiropractic and naturopathy.S o whatever you are doing in your career, whether you are a doctor, nurse, or teacher, you should do it with the hope that one day you will be writing some of these topics on medical education for medical students. They are certainly beneficial and can open your eyes to things you otherwise might have never seen.
