Toni Galvan Curtiss APUSH-7th September 17, 2011 Jamestown, Virginia and momma Bay Colonies Comparison Essay Colonized by the British in 1607, the dependency of Jamestown, Virginia became the first successful colonization in the Americas. Later, in 1628 the Massachusetts Bay Colony became stock-still another successful colonisation. Both colonies share some aspects of the economies, further differ gr occupyly when it comes to their social and political structures. On may 6, 1607, three ships landed ashore in what came to be know as Jamestown, Virginia. The men who had boarded these ships and set sail to colonize the Americas were every townsmen who knew nothing about farming, or gentlemen who disliked manual labor. The selected men of Britain made up the entire social year of Jamestown. Because of this situation, the economy suffered for much of the early years of the colony; no man knew how, or wanted, to farm. These men had been sent to find gold, soon enough all they found was that they had to actually colonize the area by setting up homes and a way of living. The Massachusetts colony had a better start than Jamestown, because the people that made up their social class were the great and ghostlike Puritans.

The Puritans of the Massachusetts colony believed that they had been born to a God who hated them, and to get on His good side, they followed the Bible and committed no sins. Their intense religious beliefs enabled them to follow a certain routine, including farming to make solid food for the community. The social classes of both colonies in their early years differed because Jamestown had elitist who knew nothing, and Massachusetts had Puritans who did everything by the Bible for the good of the community. Politically, these colonies differed greatly. In the early years of the Jamestown colony, a man by the name of Captain bottom Smith set out to turn the colony around.
