The Age of Extremes written by historian Eric Hobsbawm covers a fairly short amount of sequence, seventy seven years, but the sentence covered was extremely turbulent and played a capacious role in shaping the economy, politics, technology and culture of the ground as we know it today. The book was written not by someone who read about the events long after the victors of the wars had been decided but by someone who was a British citizen during the time that Britain was a major doer in the two largest wars the world has ever seen. He was a member of a socialist group in Berlin in the early nineteen thirtys right in between the two world wars.
